The Moreaud Family purchased their first vineyard property in the area, Château Cormeil-Figeac, in 1940. Rene Moreaud, a distiller from Libourne, bought the property for his retirement, with his wife, Lucie. The vineyard was in very bad condition when they purchased it, but Rene worked assiduously to rehabilitate it, eventually producing a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru that was sought out and praised by Bordelaise who knew good wine. His children and his children's children continued to lovingly cultivate the land, making exceptional wines, and adding the nearby Chateau Lamarzelle Cormey to the family's holdings in 2004.
The estate is currently co-managed by the fourth-generation Moreauds, siblings Victor Moreaud and Coraline Moreaud-McAllen. Living on the property since childhood, Victor leads the wine production. He is also passionate about landscapes, and has created gardens and public spaces for the site, which are popular with those who come to the property for events. Sister Coraline Moreaud-McAllen manages the commercial and export side of the winery, and resides at Château Lamarzelle Cormey with her family.
